As the CIR bill outline is getting introduced today, we all need to do our share in making our voice heard. Our issues are real and affect about a million people patiently waiting in line for past several years. We are high-skilled immigrants who have followed all the rules and contribute significantly to the innovation and economy of this county. Our strength is our grassroots efforts, so let us all call our lawmakers and ask them to take immediate action on the immigration bill.
Call your Legislators:
Immigration Voice is organizing a nationwide call-the-lawmakers drive. We request members to call each and every senator and congress member. This drive will precede the �Advocacy Day(s)� in Washington, DC and �Meet the lawmaker� drive in local districts. Members can use this phone call conversation with their local lawmaker offices to follow-up with lawmakers when they meet during the break just after the Memorial day.
Don�t miss this opportunity:
This is the perfect time to call the lawmakers. The bill needs a push via support from people like us and all lawmakers needs to be encouraged and urged to help us. There are indications that there will be lot of activity on immigration issues in both House and Senate after the Memorial day. We need to make those activities go in our favor and not die like the CIR bill in 2006 & 2007. Thus it is important to starting calling lawmakers, starting from the Senate members. In order to capitalize on this opportunity, it is very important that everyone calls every lawmaker of this country. The similar next opportunity will be in 2013. We can participate now or we will all have ourselves to blame.

I have already expressed my intention to sue the US government for the money I have put for so many years in the SS and Medicare funds when I leave the country. There will be always a greedy American lawyer (only one ?! :-) ready to get this done for one third of the prey. And I will still get back two thirds of my money. Much better than nothing.
And imagine that a bunch of "mirage chasers" like me unite and make it a class-suit, and everybody around the world who has been legally here and paid his taxes hears that and asks for his/her money back... The tick-skin-fat-ass politicians and government officials will suddenly become very nice, considered and cooperative (now they are just nice), the PBEC would miraculously clear the backlog within 6 months, the retrogression will disappear etc, etc.
Well, most probably all this will never happen but you never know, the snowball may start rolling... They are too many frustrated people in this mess...

Assuming that the PD cut off date for a specific stream is 2004 Aug and there are still visa nos available but there are not enough application (can this ever happen for real) what are they going to do? They move the PD further up and whenever the pool is depleting they move it back again?
Assuming they move back the PD to 2000 after they ran out of the nos they start accepting AOS apps for that PD but they donot look at them (for adjudication) until the queue before is cleared based on the receipt date.
In such a case the PD lost all it's significance once the adjustment of status if filed?
If receipt date is the only significant date after AOS is filed then retrogressing to a specified date does not make sense as there is no need to accept new applications if they are not going to work on them and particularly when they know the current size of the queue.
Or May be I am missing something......

I know many of friends who use IV as recourse for NEWS but they don't register nor contribute. Even after multiple reminders and sarcastic comments they don't. I feel pity for them, they don't understand by registering and contributing they help them self and others. Shouldn�t we make IV a monthly subscription web site? That way we will have only serious members.

I am a great admirer of IV and all the efforts IV did so far.
I am going to participate 100% sure in the rally. I am spreading word of mouth everyday about the rally. So far I had convinced 15 people to attend to the rally. Everyone complained that they have work on that day as I expected. However I convinced them and they are 100% sure to participate.
I am pretty confident that this Rally is going to be huge success and will change our lives for sure.

Hopefully the emphasis on homeland security will not have an adverse effect when dates become current again or move forward.
On a lighter vein, isn't this essentially what we need - quick processing and approval of 485 apps without being stuck with all the paperwork? :)

Your PD in EB3 for ROW will be back into track in October 2008 as its said in the current visa bulletin dated Jul 2008 for EB3 preference. So once it is back to current in October then the new visa numbers will be alloted. Then you will get your GC. So just wait till October to receive your GC confirmation.

I am wondering that did they have to do the advertisements for the Non-RIR case of yours.
In TR cases the advts were done later, but now after a "half-a-decade" wait does the Dept of Labor still want the advts for Backlogged cases.
