You are fine. You can continue to work in US on the approved I-797. In US visa is required only to enter into United States. Once you cross the customs and walk into US that VISA is nothing. There after everything is I-94. with I797 you got new I-94 and that reflects your status.

I tried calling Nebraska Service Center using the 1-800 number and then entering the POJ options. But it seems USCIS has a new system in place and there's no way to reach the Service Center anymore.
Looks like they ended another means of communication---no more POJ? Please correct me, if someone knows the new options. Thanks!

Anybody filed Un Signed Labor Substitution?

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has issued guidance for people traveling after the attempted bombing of a plane on Christmas Day. I wish to share my experience at POE at Newark Liberty International Airport. This may be helpful to others.
I came back to US on last Sunday on AP/EAD.
There was no issue at all while entering on AP. In fact, there were several AP/ h1B candidates. Everyone was having smooth entry.
Immigration officers were asking everyone to relax and calm down.
One person ahead of me had first and last name completely switched on I-485 and EAD than from passport.
He explained that his first and last name got switched while GC filing.
After little investigation , he was also allowed to enter by immigration officers.
Overall my experience was very good about immigration at POE.
No need to afraid if we have proper documentation.
People are unnecessarily spreading panic and rumours.

Hello Gurus,
I have filed my PERM through my employer and they mis-spelled my name wrongly. How can I correct this. Still my labor is in pending condition. My employer says we will change it once got approved. But is there a way to correct it before it gets approved?. Please advice me.

Applied for LCA before H - 1 B renewal and got the error "FEIN ID NOT FOUND " error. I submitted additional documents still waiting for reply from DOL. Applied for LCA on august 5 , got the reply "FEIN not found" on august 13, faxed additional documents on same day still did not hear back from DOL.. Pls advice how long it will take now???????

I work for company A which sponsored my L1B (my current visa status). Also, few years back company B sponsored my H1B which for some reason I did not utilize (did not even get it stamped) and hence company B cancelled it. Now my questions are -
1. Can L1-B be transferred to H1-B without going through a new visa application?
2. Can the cancelled H1-B be re-instated and utilized?
3. If another company C applies for my H1-B what are the chances of getting it looking at the current work visa regulations and prospective changes? Will my past petition of H1-B cause some issues with consulate?
4. My wife is on L2 and as EAD. Once I file for change of status will the EAD still be valid or it will automatically be void?
Please Help...

If you call USCIS 1800 number, and you ask the representative to raise a service request then they email the service center asking for details. Most of the time, personnel from service center will call back with the information that you have requested. If you learn there is a way you can email the service center, please post here.

Last month dates were 7 Jan 2005.
This month dates are 22 Jan 2005.
Still the reported Jan 2005 approvals(, IV ) etc are less than 5.
Not sure whats happening to these

Yes. The petition will be like a regular change of employer H-1B petition. The lawyers will tell you what documents they need from you when filing the company's H-1B petition.

Last Friday was a depressing day for me. A businessman and his daughter visited me in my office. When I asked how they had learned about our law firm, they said a lot of flattering things about how "famous" we were and about our "great" website. I came to US on J1 visa (exchange visitor program) and got waiver and converted to H1 visa. I could not apply for I-140 due to employers problems and now I have short of time for H1 extension.
Can I convert my visa to J1 again? Is H1 to J1 visa possible? Please advise.

Hi,
I missed to write my family name in I -94 and When I reached the SSN office to apply SSN, I came to know that the mistake to be corrected and I am advised to meet the immigration office.
Now I am planning to go back to India next month, If I apply for I -94 correction I will take more then 60 days to get the new I 94 and I have to attach the original I -94 along with I-102 form (form for I 94 correction).
So I can travel back to india without correcting the mistake in I 94 and without the orginal I -94.
Please reply me in details
